Lutherie Competitions 2026
Eufonica 2026 dedicates a major space to contemporary lutherie with three international competitions that celebrate tradition, research and the emerging generations: the “Giovanni Battista Guadagnini” International Lutherie Competition, the “Ansaldo Poggi” International Lutherie Competition, and the “Luigi Mozzani” Competition.
From 12 to 17 May 2026, at Pavilion 33 of BolognaFiere, professional luthiers, students and young makers will present exceptional instruments that will be showcased to the public throughout the days of the event.
A unique opportunity to discover the finest Italian and international lutherie up close, meet artisans, listen to award-winning instruments and explore new approaches to instrument making.
The Giovanni Battista Guadagnini Competition (for professionals) and the Ansaldo Poggi Competition (for students and recent graduates) share the same goal and structure: to highlight excellence in contemporary luthiery by awarding instruments of superior craftsmanship and acoustic quality.
Violins, violas and cellos are eligible for submission (according to each regulation), presented anonymously and evaluated by a jury composed of luthiers and musicians.
The winning instruments are showcased in a gala concert at the G.B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna.
Applications are open online at concorsobgb.com until 15 April 2026.
The “Luigi Mozzani” Competition makes its debut at Eufonica, promoted in collaboration with Assimusica and dedicated to luthiery for string instruments, with a particular focus on innovative design.
The competition highlights creativity, material research, new construction solutions and contemporary visions of instrument making.
The full regulations and participation guidelines will be published soon on Eufonica’s official channels.
