Happy Birthday Lucio: the initiatives by the Lucio Dalla Foundation

 In the name and memory of Lucio Dalla, the program of initiatives promoted by the Lucio Dalla Foundation, titled “e ricomincia il canto”, returns in 2026 to celebrate the artistic and cultural legacy of the great Bologna-born musician.

The program opened on March 3 on RAI2 with the late-night broadcast of Ci vediamo da Lucio, a TV program produced by iCompany and recorded inside the iconic spaces of Lucio Dalla’s house, as part of the CIAO – Lucio Dalla Review, dedicated to Italian songwriting and its interpreters.

The celebrations continue today, March 4, the anniversary of the artist’s birth, with several events across the city: special visits to the Casa di Lucio Dalla and the event “Liberi” at the Arena del Sole Theatre, a tribute to the poetic vision and free spirit of the singer-songwriter through music, art and storytelling.

The cultural program also includes the presentation of the book Sul gioco del calcio, published by Edizioni Henry Beyle, which will take place on March 5 at 6:00 PM at the Libreria Coop Zanichelli. The book presents a surprising text by Lucio Dalla that explores, with imagination and sensitivity, one of his great passions.

From March 5 to the end of the month, the window of Banca di Bologna in Piazza Maggiore will display Piazza Grande, a work by artist Kotè, a visual tribute to one of Dalla’s most iconic songs and to the deep connection between the artist and his city.

The program will conclude on March 10 at 6:00 PM, again at the Arena del Sole Theatre (Sala Thierry Salmon), with the screening of the documentary film Quale allegria by Francesco Frisari, preceded by a talk with the director. Admission is free while seats last.

The FLD2026 program “e ricomincia il canto” is promoted by the Lucio Dalla Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna and with the support of Banca di Bologna, involving numerous cultural partners including Eufonica and MEI – Meeting of Independent Labels.
