The Luigi Mozzani International Lutherie Competition is launched

Home NEWS THE LUIGI MOZZANI INTERNATIONAL LUTHERIE COMPETITION IS LAUNCHED

Eufonica 2026 expands its programme dedicated to musical craftsmanship with the 1st Luigi Mozzani International Biennial Lutherie Competition, promoted in collaboration with Assimusica and entirely dedicated to plucked string instruments.

The competition was created to provide a space for dialogue and recognition of contemporary lutherie, bringing together traditional craftsmanship, research into materials and new design approaches. The project is particularly focused on younger generations of luthiers, who are invited to engage in a qualified international context.

The Luigi Mozzani Competition will take place in Bologna from 12 to 17 May 2026, within Eufonica 2026, at BolognaFiere – Pavilion 33.The instruments admitted to the competition will be evaluated by international juries composed of luthiers and musicians and, following the selection process, exhibited to the public during the event, offering an authoritative overview of the emerging directions in contemporary international lutherie.

The 2026 edition of the competition is open to professional luthiers and students of lutherie schools under the age of 35. The categories open for this first edition are Classical Guitar and Ukulele, while the Mandolin category will be introduced starting from 2027, as set out in the official regulations. Applications must be submitted by 15 April 2026.

All information regarding participation procedures, instrument requirements, entry fees, delivery, prizes and the award ceremony is available in the dedicated section of the website. Read the full regulations and access the application form on the page dedicated to the Luigi Mozzani International Lutherie Competition.
